Terms of Service

1. Agreement

By creating an account or using the Mawadda mobile application ("Mawadda", the "App"), you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App. These Terms are a contract between you and Qordova Inc., Manitoba, Canada ("we", "us").

2. Who may use Mawadda

• You must be at least 18 years old.
• You must give accurate information when you create your account and keep it accurate.
• You may hold one account. Your account is for you personally; do not share your sign-in.

3. Your account

• You can sign in with an email address and password (verified by a code we email you), with Google, or on iPhone with Sign in with Apple.
• You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at info@mawadda.app if you believe someone else has access.
• We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms.

4. What Mawadda does

Mawadda is a private app for two spouses (or a couple on the way to marriage). The App currently provides:

• The nightly question: one question each evening, answered in writing or by voice note, sealed until both of you have answered and then revealed to both.
• The Sealed Vault: twelve situations answered before pairing, revealed one by one as your partner answers the same one.
• Old Reflections: your shared archive of past nights.
• Games for two: Trivia Night, Word Relay, Camera Roll and Passport and Ghost. Further games may be added, changed or removed.
• Dealbreakers: a deck of value questions each of you answers privately before comparing.
• Sulh Mode: a guided cool-down with a breathing timer, a reminder to make wudu, practical tips and a dua.
• Barakah Seeds, the Ummah Garden, streaks and achievements: progress features described in section 9.
• Reminders and notifications you can switch off in the Profile tab.

Some features are included in Mawadda Premium (section 8). We may change, add or withdraw features at any time; if a change materially reduces what a paid subscription includes, you may cancel and the store's refund rules apply.

5. Pairing with your partner

• Pairing is voluntary and needs both people: one shares an invite code, the other enters it. Pair only with your own spouse or intended.
• While paired, the content described in the in-app Privacy screen (answers you both gave, voice notes, Dealbreaker responses, game scores and streaks) is visible to your partner. Drafts and unsent notes are not.
• Either of you may end the pairing at any time (Profile tab, Partner connection, Remove connection). The other person is notified. Shared history is archived rather than erased, and a new pairing starts fresh.
• Deleting your account also ends the pairing and removes your couple's shared content for both of you (section 11).

6. Your content

• You own what you write, record and upload. You give us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to store, process, transmit and display it only to run the App for you and your partner. The licence ends when the content is deleted, except for backups that expire within 30 days.
• You are responsible for your content. Do not upload anything you have no right to share, anything unlawful, or images of other people without their consent.
• Content stays between the two of you. We do not publish it, use it for marketing, or use it to train models.
• We do not guarantee indefinite storage. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose.
• If you see something in the App that worries you, including from your partner, email info@mawadda.app. We can end a pairing or close an account to protect someone.

7. Rules

Do not:

• use the App to harass, threaten, deceive or harm anyone, including your partner;
• impersonate anyone, or pair with someone who is not your spouse or intended;
• upload content that is obscene, hateful, unlawful or infringes someone's rights;
• probe, scrape, reverse engineer or interfere with the App, its servers or its security rules;
• exploit a bug rather than reporting it, or manipulate seeds, streaks, games or subscriptions;
• use the App if you are under 18.

We may remove content or close accounts that break these rules, with or without notice.

8. Mawadda Premium

Mawadda is free to use with the Fun and Family question categories, one game each night, the last four days of Old Reflections, and ads. Mawadda Premium is an optional auto-renewing subscription that opens every question category, the whole arcade every night, your complete archive, and removes ads for both partners.

• Billing: Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) charges your store account at confirmation of purchase, or at the end of the free trial. We never see your payment details.
• Renewal: the subscription renews automatically for the same period at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
• Cancelling: iPhone: Settings, your name, Subscriptions. Android: Google Play, Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future charges; you keep Mawadda Premium until the end of the paid period. Deleting the App or your account does not cancel the subscription.
• Free trial: if you do not cancel before the trial ends, the yearly plan is charged. Any unused part of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
• Refunds: handled by Apple or Google under their policies. We cannot issue refunds for store purchases.
• Sharing with your partner: one Mawadda Premium subscription covers both paired accounts while the pairing lasts.
• Price changes: the store will notify you before a price increase takes effect and, where required, ask for your consent.
• Restore: "Restore purchases" on the paywall or the subscription screen reconnects a subscription bought under the same store account.

9. Ads, Barakah Seeds and donations

• The free tier shows advertising through Google AdMob (banners, an optional rewarded video, and a skippable rewarded ad after some games), personalised only if you allowed it in the tracking or consent prompt, with the content rating capped at "G". We do not control the individual ads; report an inappropriate one to info@mawadda.app.
• Barakah Seeds, streaks and achievements are progress markers inside the App. They have no cash value, cannot be bought, sold, transferred or redeemed, and may be adjusted or reset if they were obtained by manipulating the App.
• Community donation: for every 10,000 Barakah Seeds collected across all Mawadda couples, Qordova Inc. donates one US dollar to orphan care projects. Qordova Inc. makes these donations in its own name, at least once a year, and may choose and change the recipient organisation at its discretion. No user acquires a right, receipt, tax benefit or claim of any kind through seeds; seeds are not a donation by you, and no donation is made in any user's name.

10. Intellectual property and third-party content

• The App, its design, code, names, logos, question banks and game mechanics belong to Qordova Inc. or its licensors. You may use the App only for personal, non-commercial purposes under these Terms.
• Trivia Night questions are sourced from the Open Trivia Database and used under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 licence (PIXELTAIL GAMES LLC).
• Map data is from OpenStreetMap contributors under the Open Database Licence; map tiles from OpenFreeMap; street imagery from Mapillary under CC BY-SA 4.0.
• Quranic verses and hadith are quoted with their references. Translations are the App's own or from the sources credited in Profile, Acknowledgments.
• Typefaces are used under the SIL Open Font License.

11. Deleting your account

Profile tab, Delete account, type DELETE, confirm. Deletion is immediate and permanent: your sign-in record, profile, answers, voice notes, photos, game data, seeds and pairing are removed, and your partner is unpaired and notified without being told who initiated it. If you cannot open the App, email info@mawadda.app from your account's address. Full details, including what is retained and for how long, are at mawadda.app/delete-account.

12. What Mawadda is not

• Mawadda is not marriage counselling, therapy, medical care or legal advice, and it is not a substitute for any of them. Sulh Mode is a self-guided cool-down. If you or someone else is in danger, contact local emergency services.
• Mawadda is not a fatwa service. We take care with religious content, but consult a qualified scholar for rulings.
• We are not responsible for what your partner or any other person says or does.
• The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the extent the law allows. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Qordova Inc. is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, arising from your use of the App, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (in Canadian dollars). Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits; in that case they apply only as far as the law permits. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

14. Indemnity

You agree to defend and indemnify Qordova Inc. and its officers, employees and agents against claims, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your use of the App, or your breach of these Terms or of someone's rights.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Manitoba and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Before any formal step, contact us at info@mawadda.app and we will try to resolve the matter within 30 days. Disputes that cannot be resolved are decided by the courts of Manitoba, except where your local consumer law gives you the right to bring a claim where you live.

16. Apple and Google

If you downloaded Mawadda from the App Store, Apple is not a party to these Terms and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support; Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. The same applies to Google for the Google Play version. Your use of the App must also comply with the store's own terms.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We will change the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the App or by email before they take effect. Continued use after that date means you accept the new Terms.
